The Holy Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice, Providence Reformed Church accepts the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as a summary of what the Bible teaches concerning the major doctrines of the Christian faith. We do not require complete agreement with this confession for membership, though all elders and teachers must be in substantial agreement with it.
Our church also stands in line with traditional Christian doctrine as articulated in other historic Baptist confessions such as the Philadelphia Baptist Confession (1742), the New Hampshire Baptist Confession (1833), and the Abstract of Principles (1858). While these confessions of faith are not equal with Scripture, they summarize the doctrines which a person will be taught when they unite with this church. Furthermore, all members and candidates for membership must, in good conscience, affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
