Providence Reformed Church gathers at Oden Chapel which is nested on a scenic hillside at Chalk Mountain; about 15 miles west of Glen Rose, TX. An inviting atmosphere, expository preaching, and a 17th century Baptist heritage characterize us. By God's grace, our aim is to glorify God and to delight in Him forever. Come worship with us at 10:30am on Sundays!
HISTORIC
Providence Reformed Church identifies with a historic Particular Baptist understanding of the scriptures. We recognize that we aren't the first Christians to read the Bible, and our theology and practice is reflective of those first protestants who sparked the reformation. We stand with historic creeds of the Christian faith, and hold to historic confessions of faith. With our forefathers in the faith we strive to uphold and promote a gospel ministry marked by sound doctrine, meaningful membership, and living lives consistent with our profession of faith in Christ Jesus.
BAPTISTIC
With our reformation era predecessors, we believe that only those who repent, believe in Jesus, and make a credible profession of faith are to be baptized, which is ordinarily by immersion. We uphold the priesthood of all believers, local church autonomy, and a democratic congregational church government. We affirm the sufficiency of scripture as the only certain and trustworthy rule of faith and obedience. For a full statement of what we believe visit the "About" page.
AUTHENTIC
Providence Reformed Church is warm and welcoming. Come as you are; leave renewed in Christ. We know that we are both saint and sinner in this life, and that our best works are still mixed with sin and fall short of God's glory, but with God's help, we work to put our sin to death and live holy lives, bear one another's burdens, weep with those who weep, rejoice with those who rejoice, and eagerly await Christ's return as we pray, hear the word preached, joyfully sing congregationally, and practice the New Testament ordinances of the Lord's Supper and Baptism.
"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31
